Deputy Commissioner of the State Intellectual Property Office of the People’s Republic of China visits the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office
On 19 April 2018 the Deputy Commissioner of the State Intellectual Property Office of the People’s Republic of China, Mr Zhang Maoyu and his delegation visited the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office (HIPO). In addition to the overview of the latest developments of the offices and the discussion on the possible ways of further cooperation, a Joint Statement of Intent on the Extension of the PPH (Patent Prosecution Highway) Pilot Program, already existing between the two offices, was signed.
Under a PPH agreement, the offices mutually acknowledge and utilize the work the other office has already made in respect of a given invention, enabling applicants to request an accelerated process to obtain patent for the same invention in the two countries. Therefore this project is advantageous mainly for those who wish to obtain protection for the same invention in several countries in a modern, globalised economic environment.
