Bilateral meeting between the National Institute of Industrial Property of Portugal and the Hungarian Patent Office

Upon the invitation of the President of the Hungarian Patent Office, Mr António Campinos, Chairman of the Directive Council of the National Institute of Industrial Property of Portugal who is also the Chairman of the Administrative Board of the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market and Mr Joao Negrao, Director of International Relations and Promotion of Innovation visited the Hungarian Patent Office on 27 July 2009.
Members of the Hungarian delegation were Dr. Miklós Bendzsel, President of the Hungarian Patent Office, Dr. Mihály Ficsor, Vice-President for Legal Affairs, Mrs Judit Hajdú, Head of the Patent Department, Dr. Imre Gonda, Deputy Head of the Trademark, Model and Design Department, Mr Attila Peteri, Officer of the International Relations Section.
First the developments in the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) were discussed. Both parties believed that the new direction represented by the new Director General of WIPO elected last year would be successful and they held it necessary to make certain reforms in WIPO.
The parties had similar views concerning the future of the European Patent organization and the European Patent Office. They underlined the importance of strengthening the cooperation between the two organizations and the member states.
During the meeting the possible ways of progress of the European Trademark System was also discussed.
The parties ensured each other about the mutual support in the international cooperation in the field of intellectual property.
