Facts and Figures – Annual Report 2024

The Hungarian Intellectual Property Office publishes its statistical report on the activities of the previous year every year under the title Facts and Figures.

This publication provides an overview of the results achieved in the field of intellectual property protection in 2024.

“Through data, examples and results, it presents how the Office worked to ensure the effective protection of intellectual property and to support Hungarian creators, businesses and institutions – not only in Hungary but also in the international arena.”

“During the past year, intellectual property activity in Hungary increased noticeably – both in the fields of industrial property protection and copyright – and in parallel the Office also made significant professional progress in legislation, digitalisation, service development and international cooperation.”

“A key period in 2024 was Hungary’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union, in the preparation and implementation of which the Office played a significant professional role. The Hungarian Presidency achieved notable progress regarding the EU patent package and the regulation of crisis-related compulsory licensing, to which the Office contributed through professional support and active participation in consultations. Our analyses on the relationship between copyright and artificial intelligence also provided guidance at the EU level. Another major achievement was the international conference entitled ‘Intellectual Property in the Age of Artificial Intelligence’ held in Budapest, which hosted high-level representatives and experts from 38 countries and contributed to global policy dialogue.”
